Joanna has been studying herbs and crafting remedies since 2021.

My passion for holistic health began blooming in Austin, Texas, during college, where I minored in nutritional sciences. Like most journeys, it has been a winding path, leading to law school in California and through a chapter of resulting health struggles before eventually being brought full circle back to a focus on healing arts. However, this time, I discovered the potency and life-changing power of herbs. And the experience felt both like a refreshing new melody and a familiar knowing I had held all along….

I began devouring herbal education courses and every folk medicine book I could get my hands on. As my friends began to expand their families, I found myself eager to bring anti-inflammatory stews and breastmilk-enriching infusions to their doorsteps. In these postpartum moments of mental, emotional, and physical vulnerability, I discovered that providing this nourishment and herbal support was both deeply fulfilling to me and greatly needed by families. The seed was planted, and from these experiences, Mammal was born.

Herbal remedies and vitalist living belong to each of us, a birthright of their own that have been passed from generation to generation in cultures all around the world. I hope to empower you to connect back to your roots and to the cycles of nature, to trust your inner knowing and innate wisdom, and to attune to the synchronous relationship that is possible with your body and the world around us. When we exhale, nature inhales… and I am honored to share with you these herbal remedies and nature-inspired doula practices crafted with love.
